COLISTIN; NEOMYCIN; THONZONIUM; HYDROCORTISONE (koe LISS tin; NEE oh MY sin; thahn ZOE nee uhm; HIGH droe core tih sone) treats ear infections caused by bacteria. It works by killing or preventing the growth of bacteria. It also decreases inflammation, which can reduce pain. It is a combination medication that contains two antibiotics and a topical steroid. It will not treat infections caused by viruses.

    Notes for Consumers: Do not drink grapefruit juice or eat grapefruit while taking this medication. Grapefruit may alter the effects of your medication. Serious side effects may occur. Contact your care team right away if you experience new or worsening side effects.
    Notes for Professionals: Advise patients to avoid grapefruit and grapefruit juice during hydrocortisone treatment due to the risk of increased hydrocortisone exposure and adverse reactions. Hydrocortisone is a CYP3A substrate and grapefruit juice is a CYP3A inhibitor.
