BISMUTH SUBSALICYLATE (biz muth sub sa LIS i late) treats occasional diarrhea. It may also be used to treat the symptoms of an upset stomach including heartburn, indigestion, and gas.  It belongs to a group of medications called antidiarrheals.

It is possible that side effects, such as a reduced number of red blood cells, may develop if these drugs are given together.     Notes for Professionals: Taking velpatasvir with grapefruit juice may increase the plasma concentrations of velpatasvir, potentially resulting in adverse events. Velpatasvir is a substrate of the drug transporter P-glycoprotein (P-gp); grapefruit is an inhibitor of P-gp. Grapefruit is also an inhibitor of the hepatic enzyme CYP3A4. Velpatasvir is a CYP3A4 substrate.
