• Interaction: Calcium-containing foods• Severity: Major• Notes for Consumers: Estramustine is best taken on an empty stomach, with water only. Calcium-containing foods, like dairy products (example: milk, ice cream), may decrease the effectiveness of Estramustine by decreasing the drugs absorption from the stomach. Take Estramustine 1 hour before or 2 hours after you take food or meals to avoid an interaction.• Notes for Professionals: Milk, milk products, and calcium-rich foods must not be taken simultaneously with estramustine. Patients should be instructed to take estramustine with water at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after meals.
