LIDOCAINE; HYDROCORTISONE (LYE doe kane; hye droe KOR ti sone) reduces pain, itching, swelling, or rashes caused by skin conditions. It works by numbing the area. It also decreases inflammation. It is a combination of a local anesthetic and a topical steroid.

    Notes for Consumers: Do not drink grapefruit juice or eat grapefruit while taking this medication. Grapefruit may alter the effects of your medication. Serious side effects may occur. Contact your care team right away if you experience new or worsening side effects.
    Notes for Professionals: Advise patients to avoid grapefruit and grapefruit juice during hydrocortisone treatment due to the risk of increased hydrocortisone exposure and adverse reactions. Hydrocortisone is a CYP3A substrate and grapefruit juice is a CYP3A inhibitor.

    Notes for Professionals: Advise patients to avoid cannabis use during lidocaine treatment due to decreased exposure of lidocaine which may alter its efficacy. Cannabis use induces CYP1A2 and lidocaine is a CYP1A2 substrate. The induction potential of cannabis is greatest with chronic inhalation. Other routes of administration or sporadic use may have less of an effect.
