LOPINAVIR; RITONAVIR (loe PIN a veer; ri TOE na veer) helps manage the symptoms of HIV infection. It works by limiting the spread of HIV in the body. It is a combination of two antiretroviral medications. This medication is not a cure for HIV or AIDS and it may still be possible to spread HIV to others while taking it. It does not prevent other sexually transmitted infections (STIs).

    Notes for Consumers: Do not drink alcohol while taking this medication. Drinking alcohol while taking this medication increases the risk of liver injury. Contact your care team right away if you experience right upper belly pain, loss of appetite, nausea, light-colored stool, dark yellow or brown urine, yellowing skin or eyes, or unusual weakness or fatigue.
    Notes for Professionals: Advise patients to avoid alcohol consumption while taking interferon beta. Alcohol consumption increases the risk for hepatic injury.
