MITOMYCIN (mye toe MYE sin) helps prevent scarring during and after eye surgery. It works by slowing down the growth of cells that form scar tissue.
This medicine may be used for other purposes; ask your health care provider or pharmacist if you have questions.

This medication is used during eye surgery. It is used by your care team in a hospital or clinic setting.
Talk to your care team about the use of this medication in children. Special care may be needed.
Overdosage: If you think you have taken too much of this medicine contact a poison control center or emergency room at once.
NOTE: This medicine is only for you. Do not share this medicine with others.

Interactions are not expected. Do not use any other eye products without talking to your care team.

Your condition will be monitored carefully while you are receiving this medication.
Tell your care team right away if you have any change in your eyesight.
Talk to your care team if you may be pregnant. Serious fetal side effects can occur if you receive this medication during pregnancy. You will need a negative pregnancy test before receiving this medication.
Do not breastfeed for 1 week after your eye surgery.

Side effects that you should report to your care team as soon as possible:
-Allergic reactions—skin rash, itching, hives, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat
-Eye pain, redness, irritation, or discharge with blurry or decreased vision
-Sudden eye pain or change in vision such as blurry vision, seeing halos around lights, vision loss
Side effects that usually do not require medical attention (report these to your care team if they continue or are bothersome):
-Eye irritation or itching
-Sensitivity to light
