CHLORPHENIRAMINE; PSEUDOEPHEDRINE (klor fen IR a meen; soo doe e FED rin) treats the symptoms of the common cold, allergies, or flu. It works by reducing red, itchy eyes and a runny or stuffy nose. It is a combination of an antihistamine and a decongestant.

    • Interaction: Grapefruit juice
    • Severity: Major
    • Notes for Consumers: Do not drink grapefruit juice or eat grapefruit while taking this medication. Grapefruit may alter the effects of your medication. Serious side effects may occur. Contact your care team right away if you experience new or worsening side effects.
    • Notes for Professionals: Advise patients to avoid grapefruit and grapefruit juice during progesterone treatment due to the risk for increased progesterone exposure and adverse reactions. Progesterone is a CYP3A substrate and grapefruit juice is a CYP3A inhibitor. Vaginal preparations of progesterone are not expected to interact.
