TERAZOSIN (ter AY zoe sin) treats high blood pressure. It works by relaxing blood vessels, which decreases the amount of work the heart has to do. It may also be used to treat symptoms of an enlarged prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia). It also relaxes the muscles in the prostate and bladder, which makes it easier to urinate. It belongs to a group of medications called alpha blockers.

Drinking alcohol while taking this medication increases the risk for dangerously low blood pressure.
