CARBACHOL; BRIMONIDINE (kahr buh kawl; bri MOE ni deen) treats an age-related vision change that makes it hard to see objects up close. It works by helping your eyes focus on things that are close to you.
This medicine may be used for other purposes; ask your health care provider or pharmacist if you have questions.

This medication is only for use in the eye. Use it as directed on the prescription label. Wash your hands before and after use. Tilt your head back slightly and pull your lower eyelid down with your index finger to form a pouch. Try not to touch the tip of the dropper or tube to your eye or any other surface. Squeeze the prescribed number of drops into the pouch. Close your eyes gently to spread the drops. Keep using this medication unless your care team tells you to stop.
If you wear contact lenses, take them out before using this medication. Wait 10 minutes after using the medication before putting your lenses back in.
If you use other eye medications, wait at least 5 minutes between using each medication.
Talk to your care team about the use of this medication in children. Special care may be needed.
Overdosage: If you think you have taken too much of this medicine contact a poison control center or emergency room at once.

-Alcohol
-MAOIs, such as Marplan, Nardil, and Parnate
-Medications that cause drowsiness, such as opioids
-Other eye products
-Some medications for blood pressure, heart disease, irregular heartbeat
-Some medications for depression, such as amitriptyline, clomipramine, desipramine

Visit your care team for regular checks on your progress. Tell your care team if your symptoms do not start to get better or if they get worse.
This medication may cause blurred vision. Do not drive or operate machinery until you know how this medication affects you.
Tell your care team right away if you have any change in your eyesight. This medication may make it difficult to see at night or in low lit areas. Avoid driving at night until you know how it has affected your vision.

If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you can. If it is almost time for your next dose, use only that dose. Do not use double or extra doses.

Side effects that you should report to your care team as soon as possible:
-Allergic reactions—skin rash, itching, hives, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat
-Blurry vision, vision loss, seeing wavy or bent objects or blind spots with dark, light, or flashing spots
-New or worsening eye pain, redness, irritation, or discharge
Side effects that usually do not require medical attention (report these to your care team if they continue or are bothersome):
-Blurry vision
-Burning or stinging of the eyes after use
-Headache

Keep out of the reach of children and pets.
Store in the refrigerator or at room temperature between 2 and 25 degrees C (36 and 77 degrees F). Keep this medication in the foil pouch until you are ready to take it. Protect from light. Vials are for single use; get rid of any medication left in the vial after use. Get rid of any unopened vials after the expiration date.
To get rid of medications that are no longer needed or have expired:
-Take the medication to a take-back program. Check with your pharmacy or law enforcement to find a location.
-If you cannot return the medication, check the label or package insert to see if the medication should be thrown out in the garbage or flushed down the toilet. If you are not sure, ask your care team. If it is safe to put it in the trash, empty the medication out of the container. Mix it with cat litter, dirt, coffee grounds, or another unwanted substance. Seal the mixture in a bag or container. Put it in the trash.
