HOMATROPINE HYDROBROMIDE (hoe MA troe peen hahy druh BROH mid) enlarges (dilates) your pupils before or after an eye exam or procedure. It may also be used to treat eye inflammation. It works by relaxing the muscles of your eyes. This makes it easier to view the inner eye. It also reduces pain and swelling.
This medicine may be used for other purposes; ask your health care provider or pharmacist if you have questions.

This medication is only for use in the eye. Do not take by mouth. Follow the directions on the prescription label. Wash your hands before and after use. Shake well before use. Tilt your head back slightly and pull your lower eyelid down with your index finger to form a pouch. Try not to touch the tip of the dropper to your eye, fingertips, or any other surface. Squeeze the prescribed number of drops into the pouch. Close the eye for a few moments to spread the drops and apply gentle finger pressure to the inner corner of the eye for 1 to 2 minutes. Do not use your medication more often than directed.
Talk to your care team about the use of this medication in children. Special care may be needed.
Overdosage: If you think you have taken too much of this medicine contact a poison control center or emergency room at once.
NOTE: This medicine is only for you. Do not share this medicine with others.

Interactions are not expected. Do not use any other eye products without asking your care team.

Side effects may occur even though you are no longer using this medication. Contact your care team if you are still getting side effects after several days.
You may get blurred vision. Do not drive, use machinery, or do anything that requires mental alertness until you know how this medication affects you.
Stay out of bright light and wear sunglasses if this medication makes your eyes more sensitive to light.
Wait at least 10 minutes before you use another eye medication.

If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you can. If it is almost time for your next dose, use only that dose. Do not use double or extra doses.

Side effects that you should report to your care team as soon as possible:
-Allergic reactions—skin rash, itching, hives, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat
-New or worsening eye pain, redness, irritation, or discharge
Side effects that usually do not require medical attention (report to your care team if they continue or are bothersome):
-Blurry vision
-Dry mouth
-Eye irritation or itching
-Sensitivity to light

Keep out of the reach of children and pets.
Store at room temperature between 15 and 30 degrees C (59 and 86 degrees F). Do not freeze. Throw away any unused medication after the expiration date.
