BELLADONNA; OPIUM (bell a DON a; OH pee uhm) treats severe pain caused by bladder spasms. It is often prescribed when other medications have not worked well enough or cannot be tolerated. It works by relaxing the muscles of the bladder, which decreases spasms. It also blocks pain signals in the brain. It is a combination of an antispasmodic and an opioid.
