Call emergency services right away if you experience slow or shallow breathing, shortness of breath, feeling faint, dizziness, confusion, or trouble staying awake.• Notes for Professionals: Advise patients to avoid cannabis use while taking CNS depressants due to the risk for additive CNS depression and potential for other cognitive adverse reactions. -

• Interaction: Alcohol• Severity: Major• Notes for Consumers: Do not drink alcohol while taking this medication. Drinking alcohol while taking this medication can cause serious side effects, such as central nervous system (CNS) depression and dangerously low blood pressure, and can increase the risk of falling. Call emergency services right away if you experience symptoms of CNS depression: slow or shallow breathing, shortness of breath, feeling faint, dizziness, confusion, trouble staying awake. Contact your care team right away if you experience symptoms of dangerously low blood pressure: dizziness, feeling faint or lightheaded, blurry vision.• Notes for Professionals: Advise patients to avoid alcohol-containing beverages while taking tizanidine. Concurrent use of tizanidine and CNS depressants can cause additive CNS depression and hypotension. Alcohol also increases the overall amount of drug in the bloodstream after a dose of tizanidine. Alcohol increases the AUC and Cmax of tizanidine by about 20% and 15%, respectively, resulting in an increase in side effects associated with tizanidine.
